ODM director of communications Philip Etale has refuted reports that Raila Odinga's bodyguard Maurice Ogeta was released after he was arrested by men suspected to be police officers on Wednesday.
According to Etale, Ogeta remains incommunicado following his arrest, as he drove to work.
He had earlier claimed that the former Prime Minister's aide had been abducted by individuals suspected to be police officers, and his whereabouts remained unknown.
"Raila Odinga’s bodyguard Maurice Ogeta remains incommunicado to date, almost 24 hours after his abduction by people suspected to be police officers. He has not been freed as earlier claimed by some media outlets," Etale said.
His reaction followed reports across sections of the media that Ogeta had been "released unconditionally".
Officials from within the police said the Ogeta as well as city Members of County Assembly arrested will be presented in court at Kamiti.
Ogeta was taken by plain cloth officers while he drove to work.
An official confirmed to the Star that Ogeta was among those targeted for arrest and detention.
Raila's spokesperson Dennis Onyango was also arrested on Wednesday.
Onyango's home was raided by men suspected to be the police who drove away with him.
The arrests by the police were part of plans to avert planned countrywide demos by the opposition.
Azimio also released a list of nine allies and aides of Raila who had allegedly been arrested.
They included Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Raila Odinga's spokesperson Dennis Onyango, Ken Onyango, Teddy Mwambire, Wilfred Odallo, Redson Onyango, Eric Otieno, Anthony Otysula and Maurice Ogeta.
The nine had also moved to court seeking to be released over their unlawful abduction and detention at unknown places by police officers.
