NYS personnel brought to city streets to help police in patrols

Dozens of National Youth Service Patrol were Wednesday deployed to sections of Nairobi streets to help contain planned anti-government protests.

The personnel were seen armed with batons patrolling streets but accompanied by armed police.

This was part of efforts to get more police officers to other perceived hotspots.

Shakahola probe: Senators meet DPP, Education CS Machogu

Senate Adhoc Committee investigating the Shakahola deaths will hold meetings with Director-Office of Public Prosecutions and Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu.

As of Tuesday, July 18, 2023, the exhumation team in Shakahola Forest exhumed 16 more bodies with the total death toll standing at 419.

Coast Regional Commissioner Rhoda Onyancha said the number of rescued persons remains at 95 while those arrested are 37.
