Omari's defamation suit against Ichung'wah adjourned

The hearing of a case in which City lawyer Danstan Omari sued Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wah for defamation has been adjourned to next week.

Omari sued Ichung'wah in April and demanded Sh11 million in damages for allegedly saying he frequents the infamous Koinange Street.

The advocate through his lawyer Brian Mabeya had written a demand letter to Ichung'wah giving him seven days to retract and apologise but that did not happen.

In his petition to the court, Omari wants Ichung'wah to pay Sh11 million in damages for both general and aggravated damages he has suffered as a result of that tweet.

Ichung'wah is alleged to have tweeted “Phew! At least am known in Kikuyu by my people unlike the fake media-based liar only known along Koinange Street.”

Bungoma commissions Sh272 million market

Bungoma County government has commissioned the construction of a Sh272 million ultra-modern market which will have the capacity to accommodate 4,000 traders.

The market at Kamukuywa in Kimilili sub-county will comprise stalls, a banking hall, offices, sanitation facilities, open-air retail space, paved driveways, and a baby care room.

Once complete, the market will be a relief to traders who ply their trade on dusty and unhygienic grounds along the busy Kitale-Webuye highway.

The perimeter wall around the market and floodlights will ensure the safety of traders and their merchandise.
