Nairobi MCAs affiliated with Azimio La Umoja coalition have affirmed their support for their leader, Raila Odinga ahead of his return.

The MCAs drawn from ODM, Wiper and Jubilee parties have vowed to declare their stand, noting they cannot be bought.

Led by majority leader Peter Imwatok, they told off  Kenya Kwanza who they claimed are attempting to “buy” them.

Anyone out there purporting to malign the name of the county assembly, we are coming for you. Azimio MCAs in Nairobi cannot be bought, we are not like MPs,” he said.

“We will not go to the market to be bought because of fears. We are the majority in Nairobi and we are ready to face you,” Imwatok added.

Going further, the Azimio MCAs have asked their supporters to turn up and welcome Raila by attending the much-awaited Kamukunji rally.

Raila will be returning to the country on Tuesday morning after a long break in Poland.

“As a party, we are gearing to accord him a grand welcome on arrival at the JKIA, then join him in a grand procession to the people’s Baraza at the Kamkunji Grounds. We are asking our supporters to come out in large numbers,” Imwatok added.

The opposition will be holding a public engagement forum on Tuesday to discuss the Finance Bill, 2023.

Led by Raila, Azimio leaders including  Martha Karua and Kalonzo Musyoka will attend the forum to debunk the tax hikes.

Going further, the legislators said that they were ready to follow the directions Raila will give.

“Tomorrow Raila is going to give us a direction. We know that the Finance Bill was passed and despite the outcry from the public, the President assented to it,” Imwatok said

“Raila will be the only voice of reasoning that we shall listen to."

In addition, the MCAs called on the police to provide security from JKIA to the Kamukunji grounds.

“To the police, we are asking for security as we are law-abiding citizens,” Imwatok added.
