Interior CS Kithure Kindiki is set to give his second Public Accountability Statement on the progress of the ministry.

The CS will make a statement on Wednesday, May 31 at 2.30 pm at Harambee House.

The CS made the first Accountability Statement on February 6 to mark 100 days in office.

The CS said he will make statements three times a year providing occasional public updates on the discharge of the Ministry's mandate.

"I firmly believe that our country's aspiration to achieve the bottom-up economic transformation agenda better requires us to provide a predictably safe and secure environment that can guarantee long-term local and foreign investment in our country," he said.

During the First Public Accountability Statement, Kindiki said crime had reduced by 13 per cent.

He said incidents dropped from 8,297 to 7,179 in absolute numbers. Kindiki said the government disrupted many terror plots at the source.

The CS said he led to the reduction of the overall rate of crime in the country, including the August-September 2022 crime surge in Nairobi and other urban areas.

"Urban crime, especially the Nairobi muggings that had threatened to disrupt life and businesses in our capital city in the September-October season, has now been contained," Kindiki said then.
