Former Defence CS Eugene Wamalwa has said former President Uhuru Kenyatta still has a role to play in Kenya's political scene despite his critics calling for his retirement.

Speaking on Monday, Wamalwa noted that the time was not yet ripe for Uhuru to leave Jubilee Party.

"Your job is not done. We will stand with you until the end," he said.

Wamalwa noted that the former President stood for peace, an element that formed the Jubilee party.

"When you( Uhuru) formed Jubilee you founded it on the foundation of peace. Those who want to bring confusion should no there is no room for them," he added.

On his part, Uhuru told the Jubilee party delegates on Monday that he will continue serving them until when they will ask him to step down.

He clarified that he had initially thought that he would hand over the Jubilee leadership mantle but changed his mind after he was intimidated.

"I had thought that when I will summon the NDC I would come and tell you that I have achieved what I could and that it is time for you to pick other leaders," he told delegates at Ngong' Racecourse.

Leadership wrangles have rocked the former ruling party since early this year.

In February, at least 32 Jubilee MPs met with President William Ruto and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua at State House.

The Jubilee legislators pledged to work and support President Ruto-led government.

This was despite Jubilee being a member of the Azimio la Umoja One coalition which is led by opposition chief Raila Odinga.
