President William Ruto on Thursday revealed why he has a lot of admiration for Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire.

The head of State showered praises on the Governor, describing her as a 'girl' who is a decision-maker.

"I would really love to read the book of Cecily Mbarire, a girl, and allow me to say that, a girl that I really admire because she is intelligent, measured, and makes the right decisions," said the head of state.

Ruto was speaking during the launch of Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale's new book 'For the Record'.

Going further, the President said if he writes his book, he will write about Mbarire.

Without revealing details, Ruto said the Governor did something which surprised the whole team.

"You know, there is a moment you really surprised all of us. We didn’t expect you to make certain decisions but we were amazed and I know that many of our friends know that," he said.

In last year's August elections, Mbarire joined the growing list of female governors in Kenya.

Embu joined Meru, Nakuru, Homa Bay, and Machakos counties as the first counties to have elected women as their governors.

Mbarire was declared the Governor of Embu County after she garnered 108,610 votes against her closest rival Lenny Kivuti who managed 105,346.

In February this year, she was picked as the new party chairperson, replacing Johnson Muthama who resigned from the position.
