Cheluget assumes DG role at Immigration as Muteshi takes leave

Changes will take effect on Monday, May 15.

Evelyn Cheluget has been appointed acting Director General of Immigration Services taking over from Alexander Muteshi who has proceeded on leave.

In an Internal Memo dated May 12, Muteshi asked the department to accord her full support.

"From May 15, 2023 Evelyn Cheluget will be taking over as the Director General of Immigration Services as I proceed on leave," Muteshi said.

"Please accord the new Director General all the necessary support. I thank you all for the support you accorded me during my tenure as the Director," he added.

Chelugut has been the deputy Director General for the past three months.

She has been an insider at the Immigration and rose through the ranks to the current position.

All services there including passports, visas, work permits and permanent residency applications are done online.
