"As a religious person, I take a lot of pride in associating with people who believe in God because I know the importance of fearing God," he said.

The President has faced criticism over hosting religious leaders and prayers at State House.

Ruto, since his election and before he assumed office as the fifth president, has been seen to be very close to the church.

Several church leaders have been trooping to State House for prayers.

Critics argued that other faiths would feel left out by the country's leadership.

This is even as the President hosted Christians for payers he has also dined with the Muslim faithful.
