Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has warned against Azimio's calls for the resumption of weekly demonstrations after the Holy Month of Ramadhan.

Mudavadi said the move by Raila Odinga and his troops is aimed at triggering chaos and disruption.

He insisted that the move could plunge the country into political uncertainty.

“I want to tell Azimio, please do not try and wish a revisitation of ICC on Kenya. You are provoking Kenyans, trying to instigate chaos and trying to create a spark that will lead to disruptions of normalcy.

"President (William)Ruto and many Kenyans have restrained themselves trying to ensure the country remains peaceful,” Mudavadi said.

He spoke in Mombasa on Sunday, when he attended an Iftar dinner organised by the Coast Muslim community.

The Prime CS said he was part of the team that negotiated the 2007-08 post-election deal that quelled violence in the country.

Mudavadi said it is time politicians restrain themselves from driving the country back into such dark days.

"People were killing each other mercilessly and the chaotic nature of events is what triggered the ICC to intervene since things had gotten out of hand," he said.

"This shrewd move and ill-motive by Azimio to try and say they are looking for talks like the Koffi Annan Serena talks is an exercise in futility. The circumstances prevailing in Kenya today are nowhere near the circumstances we were facing in 2007-08."

Mudavadi noted that Kenyans are facing tough times and engaging in unmeaningful demonstrations will only cause the country a lot of harm, as far as economic progress is concerned.
