Governor James Orengo on Saturday assured the people of Siaya that he is fully in-charge of the county government.

He explained that he does not need anybody else but the County Assembly to deliver on his mandate.

Last month, Deputy Governor William Oduol was accused of alleging that Orengo is a hands-off governor who has left 'strangers' to run county affairs.

The allegation and others that bordered on mismanagement have since seen Oduol summoned by the Assembly to formally explain himself.

"I assure you, the people of Ugenya, that I am up to the task and we are going to succeed," he said.

"I only need the support of the County Assembly. When I assumed office, the Assembly passed some vital pieces of legislation and I am thankful".

Orengo was speaking during the funeral ceremony of his nephew James Orengo Ondiek in Sifuyo, West Ugenya.

The deceased was named after him and was son of the late former Ugenya legislator, Archbishop Stephen Ondiek.

In an apparent reference to the war of words between him and Oduol,  Orengo said that 'jochiemb ndoji' (loosely translated to greedy and selfish people) do not want Siaya to succeed in development.

Orengo stressed that he has not lost the vision that he had when he made the decision and sought to become the county boss.
