Azimio leader Raila Odinga has claimed that the police officer who was knocked down by a police car during demos in Kisumu was his grandson.

Speaking on Thursday, Raila said he is the one who recruited Ben Oduor to police service.

"That young man who was knocked in Kisumu by a police vehicle is my grandson, his mother is my niece," Raila said.

Raila accused police of framing innocent people in murder cases.

The Azimio leader said that Azimio lawyers are working on cases of police brutality during Azimio demos.

Oduor's cause of death has been a subject of public controversy after a post-mortem report conflicted with the police report.

Witnesses aware of what transpired confided that the deceased was run over by a police vehicle when he missed a step to board the vehicle as they were running away from the angry protestors.

Police had earlier reported that he was hit to death with a stone on the chest while managing the Kisumu demonstrators.

A postmortem report conducted at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital, seen by NTV, however, appeared to corroborate the witness count as it showed the deceased sustained no injury on the chest.

The report revealed that the officer's hip borne was broken entirely and his leg was shattered.

NTV further said a family source also revealed to them that the deceased phone which was in his pocket was also broken, and shattered.

Thus raising eyebrows at how one stone that is said to have hit him broke his leg, hip borne and phone that was in the pocket.
