Azimio leader Raila Odinga has called for a meeting on Thursday at Ufungamano Hall, Nairobi.

The meeting is set to start at 9 am.

In a notice posted on Raila's Twitter account, the meeting's objectives include rejecting a President William Ruto-controlled Parliament, charting a path for Kenya's salvation and engaging all Kenyans in making the nation great.

Raila said the meeting will include veterans, human rights activists, intellectuals, faith-based organisations, trade unions, farmers' associations, small businesses and other civil society organisations.

He expressed hopes that the meeting would result in uniting Kenyans, developing a roadmap for national transformation, seeking solutions for national problems and creating a brighter future for current and future generations.

This comes a day after the coalition announced the return of public barazas.

A statement by Chairman Azimio Executive Council Wycliffe Oparanya said the barazas were aimed at updating the people on the course of action following the suspension of protests.

"We will hold the first town hall meeting in Nairobi on Thursday, April 13 to be followed by a people's Baraza at the Kamukunji grounds on Sunday, April 16, 2023," the statement read.

The public barazas were held across the country before Azimio announced the start of mass protests on March 20, which were halted on April 1 to give way to bi-partisan talks.
