Azimio One Kenya Coalition party leader Raila Odinga on Wednesday held talks with former Murang'a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria.

Wa Iria is the leader of the Usawa Political Party, which decided not to enter into any coalition in the last general election.

The two met at Raila's Karen residence.

Raila's ODM party said the meeting centred on the country's planned bipartisan talks between the government and the opposition.

"Usawa Party Leader Mwangi Wa Iria today had breakfast with PL ⁦@RailaOdinga⁩ at the later’s Karen residence to discuss issues of national importance among them national dialogue and proposed parliamentary bipartisan discussions," ODM posted on its social media pages.

The meeting comes at a time when Raila has announced a return to the public engagement campaigns after a two-week lull.

He has planned a town hall meeting in Nairobi on Thursday and a public rally over the weekend.

The opposition leader has said he will be meeting his supporters for engagements to explain the current situation even as the bipartisan talks are expected to take shape in the coming days.

Raila is seeking a strategic partnership with Wa Iria as he seeks to consolidate his support in the Mt Kenya region ahead of the parliamentary talks.
