Police recover one illegal gun in Tiaty

Police said they suspect the illegal gun was used in banditry activities along Akwichatis -Tangulbei Road.

Police have recovered a serviceable M-16 gun in Tiaty East Sub-County.

In a statement, the police said they suspect the illegal gun was used in banditry activities along Akwichatis -Tangulbei Road.

"We thank elders from the local community who provided timely information leading to the recovery of the illegal firearm," police said.

"At the same time, we appeal to those holding illicit firearms to voluntarily surrender the same to National Security Agencies."

A multi-agency security team conducting 'Operation Maliza Uhalifu North Rift' on Saturday successfully recovered two more illegal AK-47 firearms.

One was recovered from Marti in Samburu County while the second one was recovered at Tiaty East Sub-County in Baringo County.

The security team said the public helped in the recovery.

The operation is aimed at bringing an end to the banditry attacks that have been troubling the North Rift regions.
