Police recover two bodies in a Bungoma river

Wetala warned residents against using overflowing bridges.

Residents of Chesikaki Sub- the location on Sunday woke up to a rude shock after they discovered two lifeless bodies of a man and a woman floating on river Malakisi, in Bungoma county.

They claimed that the man identified as Shem Ndiema was taking his girlfriend back home after having fun.

 “The man whose body has been found lying in river Malakisi is our own from here. We are very saddened about his untimely death,” locals said.

While confirming the incident, Chesikaki sub-location assistant chief Maurice Wetala, said he received calls from locals informing him about the incident.

Wetala said that after searching the river, the police were able to recover a motorbike which was 200 meters away.

He said that it seems the two people were travelling on a motorbike but drowned at Matere bridge that connects with river Malakisi.

The assistant chief said that the deceased’s bodies were able to be identified by their families.

The bodies were picked and taken to the mortuary as families began burial plans.
