Hit and run boda boda rider charged with MP Kullow's death

A boda boda rider who hit and injured Banisa Member of Parliament Kullow Maalim Hassan was on Friday charged with his death at a Milimani Court.

Philip Mweteli appeared before senior Principal Magistrate Esther Kimilu where he was also charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop after an accident, failing to report an accident and riding a motor cycle without a driving license.

The the court heard that the offence occurred on the night of March 25  along Mombasa Road in the South C area.

Mweteli was released on a cash bail of Sh300,000 or alternative bond of Sh500,000.

MP Hassan succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday at Agha Khan Hospital where he was receiving treatment.

A number of his colleagues eulogised him as a hardworking and dedicated legislator.

"I share my deepest condolences with the family, friends and people of Banisa following this unfortunate loss and pray that Allah (SWT) will grant them sabr and comfort during this lowest moment. May Allah grant his soul Jannatul Firdaws. Amiin Amiin,"Eldas MP Adan Keynan said.
