Kanu secretary general George Wainaina now says that leaders cannot use Azimio protests to justify the invasion of private property.
Wainaina said what the Azimio leadership and their supporters are doing is exercising their constitutional rights.
He insisted that they are only expressing their dissatisfaction with the country's state of affairs.
"We cannot use the ongoing protests by Azimio as an excuse to justify the invasion of private property," he said on Tuesday.
"Azimio is simply registering its dissatisfaction with the state of affairs of this nation, chiefly, the cost of living by invoking and exercising Article 37 of the constitution on the right, peaceably and unarmed, to assemble, to demonstrate and to picket."
Wainaina's remarks come after unknown youths invaded retired President Uhuru Kenyatta's family Northlands Estate farm in Ruiru and destroyed the property of unknown value.
The youths cut down trees and also stole livestock on the farm. There were no police to protect the farm.
Some leaders allied with the government have defended the lack of action from security agencies saying that officers were busy dealing with the Azimio protests.
They claim that it is Uhuru who has been funding the protests.
Kanu, which is led by former Baringo senator Gideon Moi, is one of the constituent parties that make up the Azimio coalition.
However, Kanu has not been actively seen taking part in the opposition protests, despite insisting that they are part of Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance coalition.
