Independence party Kanu secretary general George Wainaina now says that it is distasteful that the property of a former president can be invaded without authorities acting.

In a statement, the SG questioned how safe the property of ordinary Kenyans is, if that could happen to a former head of state.

"If the property of the family of the former president can be invaded in broad daylight with no police response, what about the property of the common Kenyan?

"KANU finds this trend very disturbing and calls on the relevant authorities to immediately institute measures to arrest and prosecute individuals who took part in the invasion," Wainaina said on Tuesday.

His statement comes hours after unknown youths stormed the Northlands Estate in Ruiru destroying property and also made away sheep among other things.

While this was happening, no security officer was deployed to prevent the theft of the property owned by retired President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The Kanu SG further claimed that the invasion was as a result of incitement by politicians allied with President William Ruto.

They have in many instances accused Uhuru of funding the protests by the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance.

"It is in the public domain that the actual vendetta the said politicians are harbouring against H.E Uhuru Kenyatta is his extended family’s land ownership in the country, which they threatened to subdivide and dish them out. Yesterday was their first attempt at that," Wainaina said.

On Monday, while protests were ongoing in Nairobi and other parts of the country, the unknown youths invaded the land and made away with sheep that were being reared on the expansive parcel of land.

Trees were also felled on the farm during the invasion.

As of 11 am on Tuesday, an official report from authorities was yet to be released.

The invasion was seen to be organised by those opposed to the ongoing protests against the government.
