Foreign Affairs CS Alfred Mutua has said Kenyans are set for more scholarships and jobs in the United Kingdom.
This was after holding a bilateral meeting with the Secretary of State, Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office in the UK James Cleverly.
The two met on the sidelines of the Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers meeting, on Wednesday.
"We requested for a quota of additional 20 thousand nurses to work in the UK," he said.
Further, Kenya requested for 10 thousand jobs for seasonal agricultural workers in the UK farm sector and eight thousand seasonal jobs in construction, hospitality and health in the Isle of Jersey and the Bailiwick of Guernsey.
"We also discussed increasing the scholarships to Kenya from the current 40 Chevening and 20 Commonwealth scholarships as Kenya feels that doubling the figure would be a good start," Mutua said.
They discussed issues of mutual interest and emphasized the need for peace and stability across the world.
On regional peace and security, Mutua and Cleverly agreed to collaboratively explore ingenious pathways to silence the guns in the DRC, Somalia and South Sudan.
Mutua said the UK lauded Kenya for its commitment to improving peace, security and prosperity in the county and the East African region.
The leader further updated each other on the ongoing projects and agreements signed when during COP 27 in Egypt and when Cleverly visited Kenya.
"Our trade and development programs are set to grow to higher heights," CS Mutua said.
