A man has lost his life after he attempted to vandalise a transformer in Njabini, Nyandarua county.

According to the DCI on Friday, they said the unidentified man’s lifeless body was found on Thursday along Kwa White area by school going children with his left gumboot missing.

DCI said he had tried to tamper with the working mechanism of a high-voltage transformer but was struck by electric current from its live cables.

"He was catapulted over 20 meters away from the transformer where his lifeless body was recovered," they said.

“Prints of the deceased’s gumboots were written all over the electricity poles indicating that the man who was dressed in an orange apron, had scaled them while going for the transformer."

DCI said that neighboring schoolboys heard some commotions outside followed by a bizarre silence.

“Some of the school boys whose homes are close to the transformer said they remembered seeing something like lightning followed by sounds of hurried foot thuds, before silence followed,” they said.

DCI said the body of the deceased was moved to Engineer's hospital mortuary awaiting identification by kins.
