This week, the Kibera Law Courts had an array of cases lodged before it.

It ranged from a librarian accused of indecently touching the breast of a ten-year-old to another threatening to behead his son because of a haircut argument.

The cases which were presented before different Magistrates in Kibera saw the accused persons being freed on lenient bail terms.

Elias Maina who was charged with beating up a woman who attempted to block him from urinating in front of her Kiosk was released on a cash bail of Sh30,000.

The court heard that Maina used kicks and blows to beat up Hannah Kamau leaving her unconscious.

The assault was allegedly committed on February 18 at a market in the Kangemi area within Nairobi County.

Still, in the same week, a man was charged with threatening to behead his son over a haircut argument.

PS was charged with threatening to kill PR on February 18 in the Kibera area Within Nairobi County.

He was released on a bail of Sh20,000 by Senior Resident Magistrate Renee Kitagwa who directed that the case proceeds on February 28.

Separately a Librarian was in court this week for attempting to kiss a minor and indecently touching the 10-year-old girl. The offences are contrary to the law.

The offence is said to have been committed on February 9 when the minor had gone to the library to get a storybook.

The Librarian hugged the girl immediately after she set foot at the Library.

He tried to kiss the minor but the girl got scared.  She retreated.

A female teacher subsequently entered the library and the girl ran to her narrating the ordeal.

The class teacher referred her to the deputy head teacher's office where the matter was taken up.

The issue was subsequently raised with the police and the accused person was arrested and arraigned.

He denied the charges before Kibera senior principal magistrate Derrick Kuto. He was released on Sh200,000 bond with a cash bail of Sh100,000.

The case will be mentioned on February 28 for a pre-trial.
