Nyanza Bishops have embarked on a fresh spiritual journey to win the residents' souls to God amidst the current socio-economic and political challenges in the country.

The bishops confirmed that the international interreligious conference in the region was in top gear and would be held in a number of Constituencies in Nyanza.

They said the religious gathering will bring on board all inter-denominational churches in Kisumu together to pray for the Luo Community.

The Conveners of the meeting, Bishop Phoebe Onyango of Salem Ministries, and Archbishop Ogonyo Ngede during a press conference in the City said they will also pray for national unity and reconciliation between the opposition and the State.

Ngede said they will also pray for the leadership of Kenya and the rest of the World for peaceful co-existence and to embrace God as the divine healer in their diverse troubles.

The prayer event comes at a time when there are open divisions between a section of the Community leadership and the National Government.

Bishop John Ober of the Church of God of Prophecy said the time had come for the Nation to return to God and for Kenyans to pray for divine healing and reconciliation amid tough economic times.

He claimed that the politics of propaganda was becoming too much and could polarize the country and called for tolerance from both sides of the political divide saying Kenyans must tolerate one another with humility and resilience to God.

Bishop Phoebe said the Home of Glory Ministries and Bill Ministries are coordinating the meeting.

She said they will come and help Kenyan churches start evangelism outreach and provide training opportunities to share the love of Jesus through evangelistic outreach events.

The two weeks of evangelism in Nyanza will cover training seminars, soul-winner coaching, Bible training, church development, and missions to win back residents' souls to God.

She added that the Visiting US religious guests will also come with various successful business entrepreneurs who will help mentor and train the residents on business opportunities.
