Azimio senators are now threatening to kickstart the impeachment process of speaker Amason Kingi after he failed to effect the removal of Fatuma Dullo as Minority Whip.

While addressing the press shortly after storming out of the chamber Thursday afternoon, the minority senators accused Kingi of playing partisan politics and "raping" the Constitution and the Standing Orders.

Led by Minority leader Stewart Madzayo and Ledama Olekina, the legislators said the the speaker has proved to be incompetent and as such, they will be moving a motion for his ouster.

"Next week we are going to move a Motion to remove Speaker Kingi," Mombasa Senator Mohammed Faki said.

Azimio on Wednesday effected changes to the minority leadership of the House, kicked out Dullo as the Minority Whip and elevated Olekina to the position.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna was in turn picked to replace the Narok senator as the deputy Minority Whip.

Dullo became the first victim of the purge by Azimio leadership against members who visited State House last week.

The senator was among 32 Jubilee MPS who vowed to work with President William Ruto in his Kenya Kwanza government.

The change of leadership was supposed to be effected by Speaker Kingi through a communication on the floor of the House but he failed to do so.

He informed the House that he received communication on the change of guard too late in the day.

Kingi was expected to effect the changes on Thursday but he, yet again, failed to do so sparking outrage from the Azimio side.
