Former defence Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa has claimed that all his four security officers were withdrawn after the Kibra rally took place.

Speaking on Tuesday, Wamalwa said that former CSs are being intimidated because of their political affiliation.

"Having been a defence minister, I had about four security officers. Three were withdrawn by the day I was seen in Kibra. The only police officer attached to me was also withdrawn," he said.

He said the government is not only targeting former President Uhuru Kenyatta but also his former CSs.

"If you don't come out to fight this illegitimate regime the reign of terror for the Kenya Kwanza regime is upon us," he said.

He condemned the alleged raid by police on former Interior CS Fred Matiang'i saying it is a move to intimidate them.

The former CS further thanked Azimio leader Raila Odinga for being physically present to defend Matiang'i.

He said that what is happening now reminds them of the dark KANU days.

This is after Uhuru's security was scaled down by the government.

Officials said the ex-president’s security had “some” of his security withdrawn on Wednesday in a surprise move.

Inspector General of police Japhet Koome said the changes were part of a restructuring process within the National Police Service.

The IG said he recalled the officer in charge of the former president to comply with the regulations of the NPS.

"Once the president has retired, the commander is a superintendent of police. An officer who was of the rank of an assistant Inspector General was with the retired president," he said.

"So how do you expect an assistant Inspector General to report to another assistant Inspector General."
