A boda boda rider has been charged for being in possession of some rolls of bhang inside the Department of Defence headquarters, contrary to the law.

Alfonce Munyao Kimolo was charged before Kibera senior resident magistrate Renee Kitagwa on Monday where he denied the charges.

The charge sheet read in court says that the accused person committed the offence on January 19 at the D.O.D in Kilimani, Dagoretti subcounty within Nairobi county.

According to the court papers, the man had received a request from a soldier and he quickly tried to drop it at the D.O.D.

When he arrived the soldiers who were at the entrance did a quick search on him and they found him with the said rolls.

Investigations was done and it was found that the request was made by a certain soldier in custody.

The accused person denied the charges and pleaded with the court to grant him lenient bond terms.

The prosecution did not object his release on bond.

He was released on a Sh200,000 bond with an alternative cash bail of Sh100,000.

The case will be mentioned on February 6 for further directions.
