Schools revert to normal calendar ahead of Monday's reopening

Continuing students will open schools on January 23 while the JSS will resume on January 30.

The school calendar will revert to normal ahead of Monday's reopening, Education PS Belio Kipsang has said.

Speaking on Friday during the release of 2022 KCSE results, the PS said 2022 saw the country administer four examinations and an assessment.

He said the ministry was able to asses more than four million children.

"I would want to affirm to the stakeholders in the sector that we have reverted to our normal calendar and our children will be opening schools on Monday," he said.

He said that continuing students will open schools on January 23 while the Junior Secondary Schools will resume on January 30.

The PS said students joining form one will be admitted on February 8.

Kipsang said necessary resources that are supposed to be released by the government are ready and will be with the schools.

The Kenya National Examination Council released dates for registration of candidates who will sit their national examination in 2023.

KNEC chief executive officer David Njengere said that the registration will take place from February 1 to March 31.

"Concerning the 2023 KCPE and KCSE exams, the registration of candidates will begin on February 1 to March 31," he said.

Njengere said that every centre has two months to make sure all candidates are registered.
