A village in the Rombo area, Kajiado county, is in shock after the body of a nine-year-old girl was recovered with missing parts.

The minor went missing from their village in Rombo on January 4 when her mother sent her to the Rombo River to fetch water, Loitokitok sub-county police commander Kiprop Ruto said on Friday.

Ruto said the body of the minor girl was found in a gunny bag with gouged-out eyes on Thursday evening.

“Her right leg was also chopped off, and her head was skinned. Her private parts indicated they had been cut with a sharp tool. There was also a cut on her throat,” Ruto said.

“I have never seen such a thing in my many years in the police force. That was heinous,” said the sub-county police boss.

Police said investigations have commenced and they will first interrogate the biological father of the minor.

Investigators said the mother broke up with the husband and father of the slain girl sometime back after domestic differences.

“She left her Kamba husband and later on married a Kikuyu man from Rombo. We will question him before moving on,” the police said.

A former Nyumba Kumi leader in Rombo, Joseph Njunge, told the Star on the telephone that the minor’s mother later got married to a different person after she divorced her first husband.

“The mother of the slain minor is a young woman and we have never known her to be having enemies around her. What happened has shocked everybody,” Njunge said.
