He was arrested outside local KCB bank.

Members of the public who spotted him alerted the police who were manning the premise and arrested him.

He was taken to the local DCI offices ahead of planned movement to Nairobi and later prosecution.

Rift Valley head of DCI Francis Wanjau confirmed the arrest and said he was under interrogation.

“He was arrested this morning and our officers are talking to him before we know the way forward,” he said.

On Wednesday, detectives unmasked a man whom they alleged to be the mastermind of the infamous Mulot SIM swap syndicate.

The DCI said that the suspect, who was at large then, has several cases and warrants of arrest hanging around his neck.

In a recent case leading to the arrest of two suspects, the scammers had siphoned Sh941,000 from a bank account belonging to a legislator from Rift Valley, who was out of the country on official duties between December 2 and 3.
