Residents of Gichengo village in Murang'a county on Wednesday arrested a man suspected of impregnating his 14-year-old step daughter.

The man, who is said to work in Ruiru, Kiambu county, came home as normal only to find angry villagers waiting for him.

The villagers apprehended the man before contacting local police officers who came and arrested him.

The man is suspected to have been habitually molesting his step-daughter who is suspected to be four months pregnant.

According to Kandara subcounty police commander Michael Mwaura, the girl had earlier recorded a statement and investigations into the matter launched.

This followed protests by locals after they found out that the girl had been put in the family with the father as the key suspect.
