Former Kiambu governor James Nyoro and his Thika counterpart David Ngari Gakuyo on Thursday lead a team of Jubilee poll losers in declaring support for the Kenya Kwanza government.

Speaking during a press briefing, the leaders declared total support for President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua.

Nyoro said they will rally their supporters behind the Kenya Kwanza government for residents to enjoy the benefits and to promote peace and unity.

“We need peace in Kiambu and we will also reach out to other leaders and urge them to support the government of the day," he said.

Gakuyo said Kenyans should not be duped to destabilise peace and unity.

He said Ruto means well for the country and should be accorded ample time to execute his manifestos.

“We are fully behind Ruto and no one will force us to support their selfish agenda,” Gakuyo said.

Gakuyo had last week lead a team of more than 300 clergy in petitioning former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to stop rallying Kenyans to demonstrate saying he (Raila) should forge unity with Ruto.

The cleric also faulted Kalonzo Musyoka and Raila for being selfish by nominating their children to EALA, while there were so many Kenyans who supported them and deserved the slots.

He termed Ruto a hero, saying that Kalonzo and Raila have left their supporters in the cold while they push for their selfish agendas.

“We will not allow a few selfish leaders like Raila to destroy our nation. We are now fully behind Ruto, who was chosen by God to lead this nation,” Gakuyo said.

Former deputy governor Joyce Ngugi said the government is at the crawling stage and should not be destabilised because if that happens it’s the ordinary Kenyans who will suffer the most.

Other leaders who were present include Damaris Waiganjo (Kiambaa) Stephen Kigathi (Kikuyu), Joyce Ngugi (Gatundu South) and a host of MCA's who lost.

Gachagua recently told off Azimio la Umoja coalition politicians to keep off the Kenya Kwanza government.

He said they (Kenya Kwanza) did not want them in the government operations.

Gachagua made the remarks at an interdenominational church service in Kandara, Murang’a county, where Ruto was also in attendance.

However, last week, during an interdenominational church service in Kipipiri, Gachagua seemed to have changed the track as he invited Jubilee leaders in the region to join the government.

Kwenya Thuku and David Kiaraho retained their Kinangop and Ol Kalou seats respectively, beating their opponents from UDA.
