The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has launched a probe into a shooting and injury which allegedly involved police officers in Garissa.
The incident occurred on Tuesday at around 2030 hours along Daadab-Garissa Highway within the Lago area.
The shooting had two victims, including Shamsa Gulled Abdille who was shot dead and Abdirahman Noor Ibrahim who was seriously injured.
"In line with provisions of the IPOA Act, which dictates that deaths and injuries occasioned by actions of the police be investigated by the Authority, a Rapid Response Team was this morning dispatched to the area with instructions to obtain all information that may be relevant in unveiling the circumstances surrounding the incident," a statement released on Wednesday reads.
Committing to being impartial and independent, IPOA added that if it finds fault, it will make recommendations including but not limited to prosecution.
