“In terms of assets, I’m around Sh600 million,” Mwangi said.

However, in terms of cash, he revealed that currently he has Sh12.5 million in the bank.

The 65-year-old CEC nominee said that all his wealth is a result of handwork throughout his employment history.

“The amount of wealth I have is a result of my own hard work,” he said.

Mwangi noted that throughout his working tenure since he started working at City hall in 1985, he has never received a complaint letter from his seniors.

When Nairobi Metropolitan Services was formed, the CEC nominee joined in August 2020 and worked as the deputy director for lands and housing.

Majority leader Peter Imwatok poked holes in the age of the nominee arguing that he ought to have retired at 60 years.

However, defending himself, Mwangi said he is still under contract with the County Public Service Board to date.

He is among former Governor Mike Sonko’s officials who were retained by Johnson Sakaja.

Mwangi was the Chief Officer for Lands until he resigned in October.
