No need for tribunal, says Elachi on IEBC four

She said Ruto should give them an opportunity to resign

Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi has said that there is no need to have a tribunal to investigate the four IEBC commissioners.

She said that President William Ruto should give them an opportunity to resign.

Speaking on Monday, Elachi said at the end of the investigations, the tribunal will give the same feedback.

"We don’t need the tribunal, we need to give the  four commissioners an opportunity to resign," she said on Citizen TV.

On Friday, Ruto suspended the four commissioners.

He further appointed High Court Judge Aggrey Muchelule to chair a tribunal that will investigate the embattled IEBC commissioners.

The tribunal's appointment follows a report by Parliament recommending the same.

After probing, the tribunal will prepare and submit a report and its recommendations there on expeditiously.

The four commisioners are vice chairperson Juliana Cherera, Justus Nyang’aya, Francis Wanderi and Irene Masit.

However, commissioner Nyang'aya resigned immediately after the gazette notice was released, saying his decision was in the best interest of the country.
