Mudavadi arrives in London for Commonwealth trade summit

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi arrived in London on Monday morning to attend the Commonwealth Trade and Investment Summit.

He first went to the Official residence of the Kenya High Commission.

Mudavadi is representing  President William Ruto in the summit organised by the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council.

Kenya has been a member of the Commonwealth since 1963, and according to CS Mudavadi, remains committed to its ideals and objectives.

The two-day conference will, among other things, look at strategies for a just and secure transition to sustainable energy, food security and resilience.

Other issues to be discussed during the summit will be health technology and the future of health delivery and green finance.

According to a statement from Mudavadi's Communication Directorate, the Commonwealth Trade and Investment Summit (CTIS) is scheduled for Monday, December 5, and Tuesday, December 6, 2022.

“The Summit comes on the heels of the successful Commonwealth Business forum in Kigali, Rwanda, in June 2022 and this year’s COP27,” the statement reads in part.

This year's edition of the Business-to-Government Summit will be held at the City of London's iconic Mansion House, with participation from all 56 Commonwealth member countries.

It is expected to boost intra-commonwealth trade and investment, resuming trade after the economic setbacks caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and the spillover effect of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

Other topics on the agenda include the evolution of technology, education, public health, youth employment, and collaboration between governments, public and private sectors.
