Kipipir MP Wanjiku Muhia has raised alarm on stalled construction of Captain Wanjohi-Geta-Ndunyu Njeru Road by the Public Works ministry.

She said the project stalled despite being fully funded.

"Why has the construction of Captain Wanjohi-Geta-Ndunyu Njeru Road stalled despite the project having been funded?" she said.

The legislator demanded for the dates in which the contractor will resume work and further provide expected completion timelines of the project.

She said the road is important towards the economic well-being of residents and the ministry should provide measures to maintain and make the road motorable.

Muhia urged the House to help her address the issue as she has attempted many ways to seek help but no action was taken.

"I am unable to sleep because of this road. I ask this House, to assist me because I have done everything humanly possible including sending photos and videos of this road to everyone," she said.

"I have sent videos and photos to the Cabinet secretary, director general Kandie and all the engineers in Nyandarua county. I am not getting help. I am only getting nightmares because even a sick person cannot be taken to hospital."

Speaking during the vetting of the current Roads Cabinet secretary on November 3, President William Ruto promised to prioritse upgrading and maintenance of rural access roads.

"We will improve road infrastructure in urban informal settlements and critical national and regional trunk roads that have the highest immediate economic impact," he said.

Roads CS Kipchumba Murkomen is expected to address the issue during his tenure.
