•Rashid is challenging his plea-taking scheduled for December 8.

•Korir was charged early this year for assaulting his now estranged wife at their home.

Eastleigh-based crime buster Ahmed Rashid will on Wednesday move to the high court in a bid to stop his prosecution over the murder of two men.

Rashid is challenging his plea-taking scheduled for December 8.

Last week, IPOA issued a statement saying the DPP had approved murder charges against the suspect.

The Independent Policing Oversight Authority concluded the investigation into the death of Jamal Mohamed and Mohamed Dahir Kheri following a shooting which occurred at Eastleigh, Nairobi County on March 31, 2017.

The Authority said it established that the fatalities were occasioned by police action.

Guided by Section 29 (a) of IPOA Act, the findings were forwarded to the DPP with the recommendation to charge Rashid, with murder.

IPOA said the ODPP, after independently interrogating the case file upheld the findings that there is sufficient evidence to charge the officer with the offence of murder contrary to section 203 as read with section 204 of the Penal Code.

On Thursday, IPOA moved to the High Court at Milimani, Nairobi and obtained a summons against the police officer, to attend court and take a plea on December 8, 2022.

Elsewhere, the court will continue with the hearing of an assault case against PS devolution Julius Korir in which he is accused of assaulting his pregnant wife in 2020 over food.

On Tuesday, his wife emotionally recounted the assault by Korir, saying he beat her while naked a few days before her delivery date.

Today, a house help is expected to testify in court about what she witnessed on that day.

Korir was charged early this year for assaulting his now estranged wife at their home.

The charge sheet states that on September 17, 2020, at Ndalat Road, Karen, in Nairobi, he assaulted Koech and caused her bodily harm.
