National examinations are set to begin on Monday across the country.

More than 3 million Standard Eight and Grade Six pupils students are prepared to sit the national exams this month.

Grade 6 has more than 1.6 million registered candidates for Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) exam.

As it stands, primary schools will have two exam sections, for Standard 8 and Grade 6 pupils.

Standard 8 candidates will sit Mathematics, English language and Composition papers on Monday.

Four IEBC commissioners to appear before parliament 

IEBC vice chairperson Juliana Cherera and three other commissioners will on Monday and Tuesday face MPs to defend themselves against petitions seeking their ouster.

Cherera will be the first to appear before the National Assembly’s Justice and Legal Affairs Committee on Monday morning.

Commissioner Irene Masit will face a panel later in the afternoon.

On Tuesday, commissioners Francis Wanderi and Justus Nyang’aya will defend their innocence before the committee.

Third Inter- Congolese Dialogue to be held in Nairobi 

The EAC-Led dialogue on the security situation in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) - Third Inter-Congolese dialogue to commence today.

The meeting will incorporate consultations among armed groups in Eastern DRC, local community leaders, civil society and other relevant stakeholders.

The aim of the meeting is to find sustainable solutions to the protracted security situation.

Namwamba to preside over National Creatives Summit

Youth Affairs, Sports and The Arts CS Ababu Namwamba to preside over a one-day National Creatives Summit.

The summit will be held in Nairobi at Kenya National Theater.

The creatives summit will bring together creatives across Kenya for a consultative engagement.

It is jointly organized by The Kenya Copyright Board (KECOBO).

200 revelers arrested in operation on noisy bars

More than 200 revelers who police termed as rude and unruly were Sunday detained on the first day of operation on noisy bars operating in estates.

Police said they also targeted bars that were operating beyond the stipulated time.

According to Nairobi Regional Police Commander Adamson Bungei, the team, which also comprised officials from the County Government, confiscated operating licenses of some premises.

Hotel in Mogadishu stormed by al-Shabab militants

A hotel in Somalia's capital Mogadishu, where government officials are known to stay, has come under attack.

Soon after the attack at Villa Rose began, Environment Minister Adam Aw Hirsi said he had survived the attack.

There were also unconfirmed reports that Mohamed Ahmed, Somalia's internal security minister, was injured.

Al-Shabab militants said they had stormed the hotel.

Clashes in Brussels after Morocco beat Belgium

Police used water cannons and tear gas canisters to deal with unrest in the centre of Brussels on Sunday following Morocco's 2-0 World Cup win over Belgium in Qatar.

Dozens of football fans smashed shop windows, threw fireworks and torched vehicles.

Police said that around 11 people had been arrested.

World Cup matches

Monday's matches in the World Cup will be Cameroon vs Serbia, South Korea vs Ghana, Brazil vs Switzerland, and Portugal vs Uruguay.
