Police are investigating circumstances under which a 14-year-old child died at a daycare in Nairobi.

The child's mother said she took her to the daycare and left her with managers on Wednesday morning.

The mother told police officers that her child was disabled and had cerebral palsy.

She said when she went to pick up the child later in the day, she was dead.

The mother said the child did not have any difficulties when she took her there and wants the case investigated.

Police arrived at the scene and took the body to the mortuary awaiting autopsy and further investigations.

Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei said they are investigating the incident.

“We do not know what happened. We have to wait for the probe to tell more about the issue,” he said.
