Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale says he already misses Parliament barely a month after resigning from the House.

In a TV interview on Wednesday night, Duale said it was expected of him to miss a place he worked in for over 15 years.

"I'm missing the House and my people are also missing my contribution on the floor of the House," he said.

He, however, added that time was rife for him to venture into serving the country in a different capacity at Ulinzi House.

The CS said he has settled in well in the Defence docket at the headquarters where discipline reins supreme.

"I realize I have been there now three weeks, there is a lot of discipline. I have realized outside there the world is chaotic. Once you enter the gate of Ministry of Defence, there is a lot of discipline," he said.

The former lawmaker said the transition has been smooth as his role as Majority Leader enabled him to link the legislative arm of government and the Executive which he now serves in.

Until his appointment to the Cabinet, Duale had a political career spanning 15 years as Garissa Township MP (formerly Dujis).

Over that period, he was elected into Parliament under four different parties.

Duale resigned from Parliament on October 26 alongside his Kandara counterpart Alice Wahome and Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen.

This followed their appointment to the Kenya Kwanza administration as part of President William Ruto's inaugural Cabinet.

Murkomen was handed the Transport, Public Works and Housing docket while Wahome was placed in charge of the Water Sanitation and Irrigation ministry.

In his final stint in the National Assembly, Duale served as the Jubilee party Majority Leader before he was unceremoniously kicked out in June 2020 and replaced by former Kipiriri MP Amos Kimunya.
