South Africa President Cyril Ramaphosa will be meeting President William Ruto at State House at 9:30 am.

In his two-day visit to the country, the two heads of state are expected to hold talks aimed at further strengthening bilateral relations.

Also, the relaxation of strict Visa requirements for Kenyans visiting SA will be central in the talks between the two heads of state.

Bomb scare

There was a scare at the official Nairobi residence of a senior British High Commission official when security stumbled on an “abandoned bomb”.

This was after the security at the residence of the First Secretary at the High Commission raised alarm saying they had spotted an object they believed to be a bomb at the entrance in Kilimani on Tuesday, November 8.

Police rushed to the scene whereby they established a cylindrical object with writings on it.

MPs to receive EALA nominees

The nominations of candidates eyeing the 9 slots in the East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) are set to commence on Wednesday after 287 applicants qualified for the job.

A total of 345 applications were forwarded to the Clerk of the National Assembly Samuel Njoroge and his counterpart from the Senate Jeremiah Nyegenye.

Of the 287 applications made, 145 were from the Kenya Kwanza Alliance while 96 were from Azimio La Umoja One Kenya.

A total of 27 nominees, 15 from the Jubilee side and 12 from Azimio are battling it out for the nine slots that Kenya has been allocated for representation in the Arusha-based regional assembly.

Names of MPs approved to Pan African Parliament

Senators  Margaret Kamar and Danson Mungatana, Women Representatives Rahab Mukami and Esther Passaris, and MP Kalasinga Majimbo received a green light to be part of the Midrand, South Africa-based parliament when Senators unanimously endorsed them and expressed faith in their suitability for the role.

Ojaamong's graft case

The corruption case against former Busia governor Sospeter Ojaamong resumes on Wednesday.

Ojaamong had been charged together with five others over the alleged loss of Sh8 million belonging to Busia County.

Kianjokoma brothers hearing

The hearing of a murder case against police officers accused of killing two Kianjokoma brothers at the height of curfew enforcement in Embu county with the second witness taking the stand.

Their parents testified on Monday before the matter was adjourned.

US midterm elections

Republicans are on the verge of taking control of the House of Representatives as results of the crucial US midterm elections come in.

They are leading with 190 seats against Democrats 167. The threshold for the two-thirds majority is 218.

Congolese fighter jets bombing rebels

Congolese fighter jets began bombing rebel targets Tuesday in the country’s embattled east, escalating its fight against the M23 group that the government alleges has been advancing with help from neighboring Rwanda.
