Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has said he will only use the Nairobi Expressway when Roads CS Kipchumba Murkomen reveals the project's shareholders.

He was commenting on remarks made by Murkomen during an interview with Citizen TV on Wednesday.

“Waziri @kipmurkomen I'm still boycotting the Nairobi expressway because the true shareholders are hiding behind some faceless Chinese nominees,” he tweeted on Thursday.

“When are you sharing the true shareholders and the entire agreements...so that I can be using the expressway?”

Murkomen had said his ministry was the captain of state capture in the former administration, which had taken to commit to too many projects.

“I'm shocked because in my ministry is where the state capture was living. Just discovered there was a contract signed at the port of Mombasa,”  he said.

On April 26, the Consumers Federation of Kenya asked the Ministry of Transport to reveal the financing agreement for the Expressway.

The Sh89 billion project was the first road under Public-Private Partnership.

Cofek said the ministry should clarify whether the road was constructed on loans, PPP, grants, leases or state financing.

The 27-kilometre road was constructed by the China Road and Bridge Corporation firm.

On October 19, Murkomen promised to reveal the contract behind the Standard Gauge Railway.

Appearing before the MP's vetting committee, the former Elgeyo Marakwet senator said the multi-billion-dollar project had been kept under wraps.

“If approved my first business will be to look for the SGR contract and make it public to Kenyans with the help of the National Assembly,” he said.
