Chief Justice Martha Koome has commended the admission of more female lawyers in the legal profession.
She said that the new development echoes broader cultural shifts that recognise women's potential to ascend to leadership positions.
"These changes mirror similar developments in the legal profession where recent trends show more female lawyers being admitted to the bar," Koome said.
She noted that the changing state of affairs across Africa has an impact on representation of women in the Judiciary and other leadership positions.
The CJ was speaking during the 17th International Association of Women Judges Africa Region Conference held in Kampala, Uganda on Thursday.
During the fete, Koome revealed that the Kenya's Judiciary has 91 male and 81 female judges while there are 298 male magistrates compared to 295 of their female counterparts.
The conference which was hosted by Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni was rallied by women intellectuals to push for free education as it would benefit more girls.
The International Association of Women Judges is a non-profit, non-governmental organization whose members represent all levels of the judiciary worldwide and share a commitment to equal justice and the rule of law.
The organization aims at establishing judicial education programmes to advance human rights, uproot gender bias from judicial systems, promote women's access to the courts among other goals.
