Pull down Arshad Sharif's photos, wife tells Twitter

The wife of Pakistani journalist Arshad Sharif who was shot dead Sunday night in Kajiado has called on Twitter to pull down his pictures from the social media site. 

Through her Twitter handle, Javeria Siddique has also appealed for privacy as the family mourns her husband's death.

"Please @Twitter remove the last pictures of my late husband @arsched from your social media site. Politicians and media are not welcomed with cameras inside our house," Javeria said. 

In an earlier tweet in which she confirmed her husband's untimely death, Javeria also appealed to the general public to grant the family privacy as it comes to terms with his demise.

"I lost a friend, husband and my favourite journalist (Arshad Sharif) today, as per police he was shot in Kenya. Respect our privacy and in the name of breaking please don't share our family pics, personal details and his last pictures from hospital. Remember us in your prayers," Javeria said.

Police said Sharif was shot dead Sunday night along the Nairobi-Magadi highway in a case of mistaken identity.

A senior police officer who confirmed the shooting said Sharif's driver defied an order to stop at a roadblock prompting the shooting.

The driver is hospitalised following injuries he sustained after their vehicle rolled following the shooting.
