Narok County Senator Ledama Olekina has warned National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula following his ruling on Thursday regarding who is the majority between the Azimio and Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

In a social media post on Thursday, Ledama said Wetangula's naming of  Kenya Kwanza as the majority party will haunt him.

"So today my former colleague Wetangula decided to take all the powers of the registrar of Political’s parties and the high court and gave himself by declaring Kenya Kwanza the majority party?" he posed.

"I wish he even decided to say UDA is the majority party and not Kenya Kwanza! This will come back to him," he said.

On Thursday, Wetangula ruled that Kenya Kwanza had the majority number of members in the 13th Parliament.

He said the Azimio Coalition as a party did not have any elected Member of Parliament.

He said Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party comprised 26 political parties but some parties left the coalition thereafter.

"If it were to be considered a political party, the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition party has no elected member in this house today as no elected member was elected under its banner," he said.

Wetang'ula said what is clear from the constitution is that the leader of the majority party must lead either a party or a coalition of parties in the National Assembly.

"I invite the house to note my emphasis on the word either," he added.

According to the ruling, Kenya Kwanza now has 179 members in the National Assembly against Azimio’s 157.

“This by implication means that Kenya Kwanza is the Majority and Azimio is the Minority,” Wetangula ruled.
