Tragedy as two die in road accident at Ndhiwa

Two people died in a road accident that occurred on Friday night at Osodo near Miranga trading centre in Ndhiwa constituency.

The incident which occurred along Sori-Ndhiwa road involved a Toyota Prado and a tractor ferrying sugarcane.

The Toyota Prado is said to have hit the tractor from behind.

Eyewitnesses said poor visibility could have caused the accident. The trailer is reported to have had faulty tail lights.

Ndhiwa Sub County police commander Paul Rioba said the occupants of the Toyota Prado, a male and female, died on the spot.

“The driver of the car that hit the tractor was trying to overtake it,” Rioba said.

The driver of the tractor was also taken to a hospital after complaining of chest pains.

Both the tractor and wreckage car were dragged to Ndhiwa police station for inspection.

Ndhiwa accident occurred only four days after a similar one happened near Got Kokech trading centre along Homa Bay-Kendu Bay road, killing 10 people in Homa Bay town.

Last Sunday, a boda boda rider and passenger were also killed in an accident at Arujo bridge in Homa Bay town.

Road users have been urged to observe traffic rules to avoid accidents.
