Narok County Senator Ledama Ole Kina has asked President William Ruto to unveil his plans for dealing with poverty.

He said most Kenyans are suffering what he termed as "Poverty Related Syndrome" due to the drought, high fuel prices and unemployment.

"Mr President @WilliamsRuto most Kenyans are suffering from PRS (Poverty Related Syndromes) due to the drought, high fuel prices and lack of jobs!" he said.

"I want to hear what you have in mind as short term and long term solutions for dealing with PRS when you officially open Parliament. Ok?"

Ruto is expected to open the 13th parliament on Thursday.

On Monday, Ruto flagged off 50 trucks of relief food to drought-stricken areas, as a way to shield the effects of the famine.

They contained 20,000 bags of rice, 20,000 bags of beans, cooking oil and assorted animal feeds.

Ruto said the release of the next consignment of food to drought-stricken areas will be on Friday.

"The government on a weekly basis will assess the situation and see what this intervention will mean for the people and what can be done in future,” he said.

He also instructed the Ministry of Water to mobilise water bowsers to deliver the liquid to areas affected by the drought.
