African heads of state are meeting in Nairobi for the crucial International Development Association (IDA) summit.

Established in 1960, IDA aims to reduce poverty by providing grants and zero- to low-interest loans for programs that boost economic growth, reduce inequalities, and improve people’s living conditions

The leaders attending the meeting are expected to rally around an ambitious agenda, aiming to improve lives and create new opportunities, with the World Bank’s IDA as a cornerstone for success.

The summit will also witness the launch of a coalition uniting civil society, foundations, the private sector, and young people, to champion a robust replenishment of IDA's resources.

President William Ruto is expected to deliver an address during the opening of the meeting.

African Data Protection Authorities (NADPA) conference

ICS Principal Secretary John Tanui, Data Commissioner Immaculate Kassait and MCK CEO David Omwoyo to address the media ahead of the planned Network of African Data Protection Authorities (NADPA) and conference to be held in Nairobi from May 7-9.

NADPA is an annual gathering of data protection authorities sector decision-makers, businesses as well investors and multinational executives operating around Africa and beyond.

It will bring together over 700 participants.

The theme of the conference is "Promoting Regional Data Governance for Digital Transformation".

It will seek to achieve several key objectives, including facilitating the exchange of knowledge and experiences among African data protection authorities to strengthen the implementation of robust data protection frameworks. 

Border and cosmopolitan counties workshop

Principal Secretaries Julius Bitok (Immigration) and Raymond Omollo (Interior) to address the workshop on registration guidelines for Border and cosmopolitan counties.

The meeting will be held at the Kenya School of Government

IGAD meeting

IGAD Climate Prediction and Applications Centre-ICPAC to launch a project on Strengthening early warning systems in the IGAD region.

It will be held at the Nairobi Social House.
