Ruto is honourable, he has rewarded loyalists - Mutahi Ngunyi

Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has lauded President William Ruto for rewarding his allies with plum appointments to his cabinet.

Ngunyi, also a former technical assistant to former President Uhuru Kenyatta, on Tuesday said politics thrive in loyalty.

"Give it to Ruto. Like him or not, this man is Honorable. He has rewarded everyone that stood by him. The currency of Politics is loyalty, not competence," he said.

He acknowledged the cabinet as sound, adding that the new government should now act on its manifesto.

"...And his Cabinet is credible. Now they must weave the Hustler doctrine in whatever shape or form. This is our new normal."

The Cabinet consist of 15 men and seven women, with Musalia Mudavadi as the Prime Cabinet Secretary.

Mudavadi's ANC party had proposed him for the post. 

Ruto had promised to reward the political bigwig, for joining Kenya Kwanza and for delivering votes.

The President retained Uhuru's Simon Chelugui in his cabinet.

He was the Labour and Social Protection CS.

Garissa Township MP Aden Duale was appointed as the Defence CS, a reward for joining Ruto's camp, following his fall-out with Uhuru.

The President also named Aisha Jumwa as Public Service and Gender CS, Soipan Tuya for Environment and Forestry, Susan Wafula as Health CS, Penina Malonza for Tourism and Wildlife and Florence Bore for Labour and Social Protection.

Ruto further appointed Kithure Kindiki the new Interior CS, Njuguna Ndung’u for Treasury, Alice Wahome will be the Water, Sanitation and Irrigation CS and Moses Kuria is the new Trade CS.

Others are Rebecca Miano for EAC, Zachariah Mwangi Njeru who is the Lands CS and Mithika Linturi for Agriculture.

Alfred Mutua was named as the Foreign and Diaspora Affairs CS, Kipchumba Murkomen for roads, Education will be headed by Ezekiel Machogu and Energy and Petroleum by Davis Chirchir.

Ababu Namwamba is the new Sports CS, Eliud Owalo for ICT and Salim Mvurya for Mining
