Machakos based detectives have launched investigations into an incident where a man's body was retrieved from a Machakos river.
The sleuths are yet to unravel the mystery behind the man's death.
The unidentified man's body was found dumped in River Yiiyiri near Machakos Girls High School in the outskirts of Machakos town on Saturday.
A detective privy to the investigations told the Star that the man was suspected to have been murdered before his body was dumped in the river.
Mumbuni chief Mathew Mulee told reporters that he received information on a body floating in the river from members of the public.
He then alerted officers from Machakos police station who assisted in its retrieval.
"I was informed on the incident by passers by who called me on phone informing me that they had spotted the body floating in the river. I in turn alerted the officers who swiftly responded to the scene," Mulee said.
Mulee said police removed the body to Machakos Level 5 hospital's mortuary awaiting identification and a postmortem.
